"Yes, friends, and all your broad and crowded thoroughfares are strewn with the beans of the devil."

London Evening Advertiser and Family News, October 28, 1864

Yes, beans. Yes, there's context. But it doesn't make a lot more sense.

But inevitably have to.

I'm kind of ashamed to admit that I thought the Conservatives couldn't sink any lower in showing their true colours towards women. I mean, after gutting Status of Women, removing the words "equality" and "economic" and "social" from the Status of Women mandate, and most recently, scheduling anti-coalition protests for December 6th, because there's nothing else going on that day, I figured they'd pretty much sunk as low as they could get.

I was wrong

Pay equity? Now supposed to be the responsibility of unions. Not employers. Unions. Nonunionized women can go suck it. And if you're female and not getting paid the same amount as a man doing the same job? It's not a human rights violation, apparently. You can't go to the Canadian Human Rights Commission anymore for a ruling because it's an "adversarial and complaints-based approach to pay equity." Well, yeah. If we don't complain, how and when would it ever get addressed?

We should deal with such things in a non-adversarial and conciliatory manner, I guess. We are, after all, women. And we're not supposed to speak up.

Today is the RedHeaded One and my 10th anniversary of being together. I could not have imagined the paths we took over the past ten years, but I am so glad we did, and have done so together. I look forward to sharing the rest of the journey with you as well.

I love you, love of my life, my best friend.

Due to the impending move (tomorrow and Wednesday), your regularly scheduled updates to this journal will be on hiatus until after we get the internet connected.

When I return, I may be gibberingly insane.

Aargh! It turns out the bus from Kingston directly to the airport does not run at the time I thought it did. It doesn't go until 2 am, which is about half an hour too late for us.

What would be the next best way to get to the airport tomorrow?
