Alix is 32 years old. After graduating with her undergrad degree, she spent four years working as an administrator at a university. In 2005, she went back to university, and completed her Master's degree in History in August of 2006, and counts that year as one of the most stressful and most fun of her entire life. After taking another year off to save up some money, she started work on her PhD in September of 2007, and has finished her comps (hurrah!) and is now working on her dissertation.

Her History research interests are in the areas of histories of sexuality and gender, with particular emphasis on Canadian and British North American History, and more specifically, the Canadian temperance movement.

Before deciding to go back to school, Alix flirted with the idea of acting professionally. She still acts in community theatre as often as anyone will cast her.

History and acting are the great passions of her life, other than The RedHeaded One, her wonderful husband, whom she has loved for eleven years so far, and married five years ago. Although they plan to have children eventually, their cats Ashley and Gumbo are an acceptable substitute in the meantime.

Although not addicted to coffee at present, Alix remains a coffee snob. However, she will not be surprised if grad school helps create an addiction.

Since being back in school, much of what she is currently writing has become friends-only. But Alix is certainly open to adding new people, so comment if you want to be added.
